UPDATE: A winner has been announced! Check this post for all the details.

Star Wars is kind of a big deal for the LiveJournal U.S. crew. We can break into a conversation about our favorite moments in a galaxy far, far away faster than Luke Skywalker can start complaining about missing a trip to Toshi Station to pick up power converters.

To celebrate the release of the Star Wars saga on Blu-ray, we're giving away a Star Wars gift pack to one LiveJournal user who writes our favorite Star Wars movie pitch in Friday's Writer's Block on the LiveJournal homepage. The winner will receive a copy of the Star Wars saga on Blu-ray (or DVD equivalent* if you don't have a Blu-ray player) and a few other Star Wars related items.

Your movie pitch could be anything. Write a sequel, a prequel, or anything in-between. You're eligible as long as your story takes place in the Star Wars universe. Entering is easier than bull's-eyeing womp rats in your T-16 back home but winning will require... A creative force, if you will.

General rules:
Keep submissions limited to 300 words or less
No droids allowed!

* The Blu-ray version of the Star Wars saga is not being released on DVD at this time. A winner requesting the DVD version of the films will receive the most recent release of the Star Wars films available on the DVD format.

Write a sequel, a prequel, or anything in-between, Star Wars
I would create a sequel, Resurgence of the Empire, based on the trilogy by Timothy Zahn, with Admiral Thrawn as the antagonist of the New Republic. Thrawn is the only non-human Admiral to serve under the Emperor. One of the main character's future spouses is introduced during the series. Thrawn is almost as cool as Darth Vader in his own way. Hard to give a pitch here without giving away the storyline. Story would take place almost immediately after Return of the Jedi. Thrawn was kept in the outer rim because of his ancestry. There are cloned Jedi popping up, new species introduced, Leia set on the path to becoming a Jedi. Out of all the Star Wars books I've read over the years, best 3 books of the entire series hands down and read them in the early 90's
